HI all, attached are the final details for Croft XC on 1.3.20. As I'm away Tara & Chris Oxley have kindly volunteered to take charge so please contact them with any queries. I have also attached the current point and team positions. The final event this season will be the team relays at Darlington on 22nd March so it would be great to get several teams there. HI folks. The XC at Richmond on Sunday has been cancelled due to the forecasted storm over the weekend. It is a very exposed site and probably a very sensible decision as I was already thinking we may not be able to put the tent up. sorry, next XC is Croft on 1st March. Liz x

Where to start? How about Albert Park for the club league event. The forecast earlier in the week pointed to the whole thing being a damp squib. Fortunately Storm Ciara got delayed - conditions were great - and the event was a big success. There were records and milestones aplenty. A total of 59 Striders chose to run, with Jamie B and Andy L volunteering. The lure of league points resulted in no fewer than 20 of our 59 runners recording new pb's. Sam Johnston and Kris Allen have been training hard and running well but falling just short of a first sub 20 min 5k. Hi all Whilst it was great to see so many Striders at Saturdays Albert parkrun it’s been brought to our attention by the event director that it appears not all members may have had their barcodes with them and were requesting that they be added to the results manually. As you know parkrun operate a strict no barcode no time policy at every single parkrun therefore we ask that all Striders respect this, whichever parkrun you are attending. So many of you kindly volunteer at parkruns in our region and will appreciate the position such a request put the volunteers in when having to say no to the individual. For those not on Facebook Race League The calm before the storm. Striders took full advantage of the conditions before Storm Ciara comes to town descending en masse to Albert Park for race 2 in this years league. Caroline Horton had the foresight to make the league race coincide with her 250th parkrun so there was cake at the end too. Fantastic milestone achievement Caroline - well done from us all. Personal duals meant the race adopted the ‘friendly competition’ tag that the club league is all about. I still personally think results should be based on height grading as opposed to age grading. From Facebook:   Sorry folks but the forecast for tomorrow is holding, so were going to #CANCEL tomorrow's Great Run Local at Ropner Park for the safety of both runners and marshals. We could have hung on and checked in the morning, but thought that by making an announcement early everyone can make alternative plans, even if that's just to turn the alarm off and have a nice lie in while the storm passes. The next club league race in the 2020 calendar is on Sat 8th Feb - Albert Parkrun. Committee members will host a Q&A session at the club from quarter past six through to sessions starting both on Tuesday (4th) and Thursday (6th). If newer members are keen to compete in the 2020 club league but are still unsure of the protocol please pop along and ask away! We will aim to house ourselves in the corner of clubhouse to the left of where subs are collected.
