Now for 21!

Run reports
Striders at Stewart Park, Flatts Lane, Catterick and Inverness. Liz Simpson earned herself a nice aubergine tee shirt at Tees Barrage as one of the seven Strider volunteers on the day and Kevin Dove earned a nice festive red one.  There were 28 Striders braving the conditions. These clearly suited Zoe Walls, Jade Featherstone, Andy Johnston and Sarah Winter and they all glided over the course to set new PBs. It took almost exactly three years to put the 22min barrier behind her at Albert Park but this was the week Caroline Horton smashed it. Stella Hudson joined in the celebrations with her own new PB. It’s not a race but… Sarah Winter dipped on the line for 1st again at Tees Barrage and Lisa Molus grabbed 3rd at Albert…

Brrr…

Run reports
The big Strider parkrun turn this week was again at Tees Barrage with 25 athletes and seven athletic, if somewhat cold, looking volunteers. That includes a 25th volunteer appearance for Adam Potter. Finlay Pennington joined the small band of Striders with 200 runs under their belt. Paul Johnson acted as the trail blazer leading the field of runners through the icy patches. We also had Striders at Sedgefield - PB for Jonathon Archer - Albert Park and Stewart Park. Further afield tourism runs at Leamington, another PB for David Edwards, and at sunny Seaton for Stella Hudson. It's not a race but... Paul Johnson was first overall at Tees Barrage and Lisa Molus came in as third female at Albert Park.

NYSD XC – sort of race report!

Run reports
Thought I’d do a bit of a race report from Sunday - from where I was (granted that was all over the place lol!!!) Preston Park NYSD Race Report .... an organisers view Well where do I start, after a XC planning meeting way back in May and the tentative yes sure we’ll have a bash at the hosting of an NYSD XC event this season fast forward to last Sunday - 19th November & race day! Between May and Sunday there’s been lots of work behind the scenes, form filling to get permission to host the event, risk assessments done, permits applied for and the invaluable advice of stalwart race organiser Sid Rudd sought ... thanks again Sid! After putting out the call/ plea for willing volunteers a hardy…

16:52

Run reports
First things first, Jonathon Archer was so quick at Tees Barrage last week we missed his PB. Albert Park was again the place to be this week. Eight Striders and the first eight finishers all sub 17min! One of those, in a very impressive new PB of 16:52 was Lloyd Ryan. Tees Barrage saw a big turnout of Striders as volunteers under the leadership of Angela Cox. The 37 runners included 3 PBs for Stella Hudson, Jade Featherstone and Kevin Dove - and with a bit more encouragement from her pacer we could have added Gail too. We also had athletes at Stewart Park, Hartlepool, Sedgefield, Flatts Lane - PB for Finlay Pennington - and tourist of the week was PB setting Helen McIlvenny at Horton. It's not a race…

Whitby Cross Country

Run reports
Number 2 in the cross country season : Whitby : a favourite among some of us who have been doing these for a few years. As the number of people coming to the cross country continues to increase ( which is great) and most people were up for fish and chips in Whitby after we decided to book a bus, so 15 of us met at club 09.45 with several more meeting us there. The forecast was cold & windy but dry until mid afternoon, so when it started raining before we even got there we knew it was going to be 'fun'. What came next was hail rain and sleet with some very nice rainbows thrown in and occasional dry spells just to try and lure us into a…

500 and counting

Run reports
Many of us started our parkrun journey at Albert Park, so it was fitting that the biggest Strider turnout of the day was at Albert Parks 500th event. Yvonne Smith, Jennie Johnston and Gavin Morley (again!) all set new PBs. The usual sizable turnout at Tees Barrage to see Jackie Glass continue her streak of new PBs. Striders also in attendance at Sedgefield, Hartlepool, Stewart Park - where David Holmes quietly achieved his 99th run - and Fell Foot was the location for Finlay Penningtons 24th different parkrun location. It's not a race but... Sarah Winter was, for the fourth time, first female finisher at Tees Barrage.

Oh we do like to be beside the seaside.

Run reports
It wasn't quite bucket and spade weather but Striders had a trip to the seaside. The Yorkshire Coast 10k in Scarborough wasn't a league race, but it might as well have been with the number of us running. Another stupidity early Sunday morning bus left club HQ full of sleepy Striders. Although it was a lie-in compared to the day before for those of us who had been up even earlier to enter the Brass Monkey. Bus manager Helen (thanks for organising) was running a very strict establishment, not letting anyone on the bus before they had paid their fare. ? Arriving in plenty of time we headed to the Spa complex to hide from the wind and rain caused by the remains of Storm whatever stupid name they have…

Another red tee shirt

Run reports
A quieter day on the parkrun front for Striders. We had a small number of athletes at Albert Park, Stewart Park and Redcar - where Shaun Fletcher managed to lower his PB time. And the tourism award goes to Jeanette and Paul Appleton for their appearance at Cambridge. The 29 Striders at Tees Barrage witnessed Rachel Dooris earn herself at 50 club tee shirt, Jackie Glass gaining yet another PB and a long awaited new PB here for Andrew Butterworth. There appears to have been a 27-something gang running and in the midst of that group Gavin Morley also continued with his very impressive lowering of his PB - over 9mins taken off at Tees Barrage this year! It's not a race but... Sarah Winter was second female finisher.
