Important Club League Announcement

Club News
Due to the continued growth of the club and the current level of interest in the club league the committee have agreed to extend the amount of prizes to be awarded this year. We will now have a first place and runner up in each of the following categories 16-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. This will apply to both males and females. The category you're in will be based on your age at the start of the year. (So for example if you turn 30 this year you will still be in the 16-29 age category as you were 29 when the league started). Good morning all here are tonight's sessions: (Sub 22 + 22-25) which will be lead by Paul + Liz are doing a track session. (25-27) which will be lead by Cat are doing an off road hills session at birkdale road. (27-30) which will be lead by Caroline are doing 5 minute medleys. (30-33) which will be lead by Fiona are doing a hill session at cowpen bewley, which Fiona posted about last night. (If this changes due to the weather an update will be posted!) Good morning all here are tonight's sessions: (Sub 22) which will be lead by Phil are doing an interval session on the cycle path. 1 minute intervals with 1 minute recovery in between each one x20. (25-27) which will be lead by Cat are doing a social run. (22-25, 27-30, 30-33 + 33+) will be doing a track interval session. 10,8,6,4,2 and 1 minute intervals with recovery in between each interval. Sunday social run. This Sunday, a few of us will be doing a social run starting from the running club. Meeting at 8.30am the route will be up to 17 miles, with cut off points at 10 and 13 miles for those not wanting to do 17. The pace of this will be between 8.30-9 minute miles. (Please be able to do the pace if you are planning on coming!?) This is NOT an official club session - so there will be no coaching on route. Refreshments in the club house afterwards! ☕️?

(25-27) which will be lead by Cat are doing a flying 30s session. (27-30) which will be lead by Angela are doing a stair climb session in ropner park. 3 x 6 minute repeats with 3 minute recovery in between each rep. Good morning all here are tonight's sessions: (Sub 22 + 22-25) which will be lead by Liz + Paul are doing 400m repeats on the track. (25-27) which will be lead by Angela + Steve are doing a 10km social run. (27-30) which will be lead by Mary are doing hills. 6 x 5 minute repeats with 2 minutes recovery in between. (30-33) which will be lead by Fiona are doing a tempo run at 12,11 and then 10 minute mile pace. (Please bring a watch if you have one!) Here are tonight's sessions: (Sub 22) which will be lead by Phil are doing a 3,2,1 minute interval session x 4. 1 minute recovery between each interval, and 2 minute recovery between each set. (22-25) which will be lead by Lucy are doing mile repeats. 4 x 1 mile at 7.25-7.50 pace. 90 seconds recovery in between each repeat. Six Striders made the trip to Darlington on Tuesday for event 3 of the Summer Track and Field series. Katie Abel, Sophie Owens, Lucy Owens, Vicky Meaby and Kate Butterworth represented the ladies. Myself, the only gent again. First up was the High Jump - a new event for all of us. Rules stated that the minimum bar height was a very challenging 1.2 metres. This proved a step too far for all of the Striders ladies - except Kate - who, with her final attempt, got the approach and technique spot on to clear the bar. This gained her second overall in the women's senior category - and in the process setting (as far as I know) a ladies Striders High Jump record! Well don Kate! The men's senior…
