Sedgefield Handicap Run.

Following on from tonight's announcement about the sedgefield handicap race on Thursday, registration is at the Fishburn Youth Community Centre. The postcode for this is: TS21 4ED. There is parking facilities available here. The event starts at 7pm. Registration closes at 6.45pm. (I would advise getting there around 40 minutes before the start just to make sure you've got plenty of time!) Remember the event is free, and there's a nice buffet on in the club afterwards ? Tuesday 18th July Training Sessions

Good morning all here are tonight's sessions: (Sub 22) which will be lead by Sam are doing a high intensity speedwork session. (22-25) which will be lead by Liz will be doing an Indian file relay session. (25-27 + 27-30) which will be lead by Cat and Angela are doing a strength session on the track. (30-33 + 33+) which will be lead by Fiona are doing a social run with a bit of interval work and recovery. Pace will probably be between 10 and 11.30 minute per mile. A reminder that the beginners group aren't meeting at the club tonight. They're meeting at ropner park instead. Helen posted the details earlier, thank you!

Final NYSD Track + Field Report of the 2017 Season!

There's been a slight delay in this race report because sometimes they need an edit - a bit of a tweak here and there. Me old pal Dave Fender will be both delighted and relieved that a few minor amendments have been made... Last Tuesday saw the grand finale of the summer NYSD Athletics series at Middlesbrough. Katie Abel, Vicky Meaby, Kate Butterworth and Lucy Owens were the Striders ladies competing. First timers Gavin Morley and Andy Hayes, together with Andrew Laverwick, Dave Fender and myself, the gents. Kate and Vicky were at the Stadium early doors - which suggested a throwing event would be opening proceedings. A somewhat protracted hammer competition ensued - Kate, again, showing a real talent for the event, throwing a 19.15 metre pb and winning…

Couple of things for you all: The next club league race is still on the 22nd July, however it's not at Stewart's park it's now at sedgefield! Also, this Sunday there'll be a social run starting from the club at 8.30am. Distance up to 13.1 miles but there are various cut off points along the route. Pace will be 8.40-9 minute miles. Good morning all here are tonight's sessions: (Sub 22 + 22-25) which will be lead by Sam are doing a stair session in ropner park. (25-27) which will be lead by Angela are doing 400m repeats. (27-30) which will be lead by Mary are doing a social run. 4-5 miles at 10-11 minute mile pace with loopbacks if needed. (30-33 + 33+) which will be lead by Lucy are doing a 6km run. A choice of 2 sessions tonight, both all inclusive and suitable for all paces: One will be a track session, 10,8,6,4,2 and 1 minute intervals with recovery in between each set lead by Caroline. The other one will be a hill session lead by Liz. Couch to parkrun will also be on tonight and that will be lead by Helen and Mary. Social Run Sunday!

Club News
Couple of social runs on Sunday for you to choose from if you're interested. Both will be at the Tees Barrage and are starting at 9am at the Tees Barrage 10km start point along the navigation way. One of the social runs will be at around 10.30-11.30 min mile pace and the other one will be between 8.40-9 minute mile pace. Distance will be anywhere between 10k-half marathon. Thanks!

Thursday 6th July Training Sessions

We have 3 sessions on offer tonight, The 25-27 group will be doing a strength session with Cat. There will be a speed session on the track, 16 x 200m alternating between 5 and 10km pace with recovery in between each one. This is suitable for all abilities - how fast you run/recovery time all depends on your own individual times. The final session on offer will be an interval session on the cycle path, again suitable for all abilities. Thanks all ?
