Run reports
Paul’s weekend report… 50 Striders attended a warm and humid Albert Park on Saturday. It was a league race - with Kris Allen doing his 100th parkrun and Sam Johnston celebrating his 28th birthday. (both these milestones were low-key affairs - only found out when someone mentioned them whilst I was walking back to the car afterwards) Despite the muggy conditions there were plenty of excellent runs from our members. Andy Laverick did his 300th parkrun. Tom Holland and Daniele Meucci got all-course pb's. Nice work chaps. Caroline Horton and I achieved 80%+ age-gradings. Tom Marrs (pb and 70%+), Nick Martin (70%+), Glenn Cooper (pb and 70%+), Kris Allen (70%+), Steve Cotton (70%+), Daniel Mcilvenny (pb), Emma Fleming (3rd lady to finish and 70%+), Helen Mcilvenny (pb and 70%+) and…

Cleveland Way Relays 2023

Run reports
Today was the annual club day out on the Cleveland Way as part of the NYMAC Cleveland Way Relays. The weather started misty, breaking into a nice sunny morning but as the day went on the sun went off; clouds formed and the rain fell. Starting at Filey BEACH (please note Phil & Glenn) 😂 to finish in Hemsley with the route broken into segments measuring between 3 to 8 miles. The event was so popular with our club that we had enough members interested to put 2 - 3 runners on each leg. We were kept up to date throughout the day with start and finishing times and of their adventures out on their route; which included some confessions as the day went on of getting lost, Charlotte, Izzy…

Run reports
24 Striders set their alarm an hour earlier on Saturday. The destination that morning was Fountains Abbey near Ripon for a parkrun league event. For 15 of us it was the first time we had seen the venue - the largest monastic ruins in the country with simply stunning views all around. The course was on tarmac paths around the ruins with one short lap and one long lap with a cheeky little hill on the first lap. A large attendance of 401 waited patiently in the warm sunshine and then we were off. Glenn Cooper (70%+ age-grading), Steve Cotton, Michelle Ince, Julia Ansbro and Joanne Cooke got new pb's. Dinah Owen made her parkrun debut. Abby Barker and myself also got 70%+ a-g's - with Abby 1stlady to finish.…

Run reports
A glorious day greeted the runners at Wynyard on Saturday - and Amelia Whitehouse decided to make hay while the sun was shining. Amelia had ran an all-course personal best at the venue a few weeks before. At the finish I asked her how she'd got on for this week. Her smile said it all as a further 20 seconds was knocked off for another all-course parkrun pb. Nice running Amelia. Me and Jim Wright got Wynyard pb's. Gail R, Karen C, Janice L and Neil M volunteered. Elsewhere, 11 Striders went to Redcar for another instalment of the canine league. No idea how the dogs got on but Glenn Cooper was flying with an all-course pb and a 70%+ age-grading. Good work Glenn. Christopher Lovell and Keran Hodgson got…

Run reports
This week saw a good Striders turnout at Stewart Park - where Caroline Horton completed her 300th parkrun. The bulk of Caroline's parkruns have been at Albert Park followed by Stewart Park and the Barrage. However, Caroline has appeared at an impressive 72 different venues including runs in the USA and Australia. Caroline achieved her regular 70%+ age-grading. Izzy Morgan made full use of the benign conditions with a new pb and 3rdfemale finish. Over at Wynyard, Stephen Mcneal hit the 50-parkrun milestone. Kay Stokes (70%+ a-g) got a new pb along with Ian Saul. When Doreen Morris gets a new pb, more often than not, Ian Morris will do the same - and so it panned out at Wynyard. Glenn Cooper and Gareth Maloney volunteered. Hartlepool saw Tom Murphy…
