parkrun Striders

Run reports
Caroline Horton was the first female finisher at Albert park this week and in the process scored 80%+ , getting very close the her PB. Eight other Striders followed Caroline home, with Neil McGee completing his first run here whilst Anna Carruthers set a new PB. Katie Abel travelled to Sedgefield to pick up a new PB and we also had representatives at Stewart park and Hartlepool. 11 Striders attended Tees Barrage with Rachel Carr setting her 5th successive PB along the riverside route. Over 90,000 people did a UK parkrun this week, slightly over 600 of those achieved their 50th red tee shirt run but how many of those also got a PB? I do not know but Ian Howse certainly did achieve 50 runs and a new PB! …

parkrun Striders

Run reports
Seven Striders, including a couple of hardy athletes fresh from London Marathon, toed the line at Albert park with Caroline Horton knocking out another 78%+ age graded score. We also had one representative at Stewart park. Craig Robinson travelled over to Riverside parkrun and was rewarded with a new PB. Others also travelled to Hartlepool and Fountains Abbey. 13 Striders got in some practice for Mondays 10k with a run at Tees Barrage. Rachel Carr (again!) and Alison Stobbs both clocked new PBs. The simple way to look for Striders in the results is to filter the club name rather than look for actual names – if I have missed you out please check that you appear in the results as a Strider. An easy way to do this is…

parkrun Striders

Run reports
Between Stockton duathlon, Fountains 10k and VLM commitments, numbers of Striders at parkrun dropped a little this week but there were still a lot of PBs set. Jill and Katie Abel travelled to Dalby forest – a first trip there for Katie and a new PB for Jill. Emily Chaytor took a big chuck out her PB at Sedgefield and we also had two representatives at Albert park. There were 18 Striders running at Tees Barrage plus some volunteers such as the timers and the tail runner. Lindsey Spires, Rachel Carr, Helen McIlvenny and David Holmes all made the best of the cool conditions to set new PBs. Well done to all those who participated in the other events this weekend – maybe we could get an event report from…

parkrun Striders

Run reports
A quieter week at parkrun for Striders this week with nobody venturing too far from home. We had a representative at Albert park, Sedgefield and Hartlepool where Don Telford had his first look at the course. Three more ran Stewart park with a first appearance for Gillian Borthwick. I can only comment on the weather at Tees Barrage where it was a beautiful morning until the moment the run briefing started when we had a mixture of rain and hail which continued until the 1Km mark. What it did demonstrate is that Adam Potter is clearly a fair weather runner as every time we get bad weather recently he cannot get to the café quick enough thus setting yet another PB! Joining Adam were Rachel Carr and David Holmes with…

Eight Striders took to Albert park where both Amy Lewis and Helen McIlvenny lowered their PBs and two more attended Stewart park. Don Telford decided to have a first run out at Whitley Bay while Tara Oxley chose a debut at Redcar and Craig Robinson took on Dalby Forest for the first time. There were 16 Striders running at Tees Barrage plus the run director and a number of other volunteers. Rachel Carr, Julia Coleby, Adam Potter and Andy Johnson all used their recent training to good effect and set new PBs.

Striders at parkrun

Run reports
Stockton Striders was represented at seven different parkruns this weekend. There were a couple of Striders at Albert and Stewart Parks.  14 Striders ran at Tees Barrage plus a hand full of volunteers. It was a quiet day for PBs with only Lindsey Spires achieving one. The tourist memo seems to have said – go somewhere starting with H. Horton, Hull and Hartlepool (sneaky preview of the Marina 5?) were the chosen locations with one Strider at each. Angela Cox appeared to have missed that memo and turned up instead to the UKs largest parkrun at Bushy Park to become the fifth individual Strider to have been to the home of parkrun. I have stood on the finish line a few times at Tees Barrage and there are times when…

parkrun 260316

Run reports
Well, it is Easter weekend and all the Striders who turned out at parkrun stayed close to home. The big turnout was at a very windy Tees barrage with at least 28 Striders either running or volunteering. The volunteers were led by run director Angela Cox. There were Strider timers, token people, scanners, tail runner and marshals – basically all the roles required to run a successful event. Well done all. Of the 20 runners, it was Matthew Smiths introduction to the world of parkrun and Adam Potter somehow managed to battle through the wind to the only new Striders PB of the day. We also had a runner at Stewart park and three at Albert park where Caroline Hortons 78.9% age graded result had to be the performance of…

parkrun Striders

Run reports
18 Striders completed various parkruns this weekend. As usual the majority of these were at Tees Barrage with 12 running and I think I spotted at least 3 volunteering and another sunning herself on a bench along the riverside. Rachel Carr made it 1500 striders to cross the line since this event started whilst Paul Johnson, Helen McIlvenny and Lindsey Spires all collected new PBs. We also had runners at Sedgefield and Stewart park where Nigel Radcliff collected a new PB. Three striders also travelled for their first visits to the events at Fountains Abbey, the very first event at Dalby Forest and, the interestingly named, Peter Pan.

Parkruns 05th March 2016

Run reports
25 Stockton Striders turned out at various parkruns this weekend with members turning out at Tees Barrage, Sedgefield and Darlington. I guess that means the tourist of the week prize would go to the Darlington contingent but the real prizes were the points that were up for grabs in the 4th event of the club league at Tees Barrage. 22 Striders toed the line at a breezy barrage in search of points and the added incentive brought out new PBs for David Fender, Paul Johnson, Nigel Radcliffe, Darren Mitchell, Katie Abel, Paul Stephenson, Ian Howse and Linsey Spires. David Fender may have led the Striders home but the performance of the day has to be Caroline Horton with a massive 75% in the age grading score. The next league event…
