Thanks to everyone who attended the AGM either in person or via zoom … notes from the meeting will follow along with details of the elected committee but we wanted to confirm the outcome of The Grange parkrun draw ASAP … the following striders will be lacing up their running shoes at Kirklevington prison this Saturday ….. Kirklevington Grange parkrun As some of you will know parkrun uk holds events at HMP venues around the country. The events aren’t open to the general public but …… Thanks to our contacts (Simon R 😊) 5 Striders have been invited along to Kirklevington Grange’s parkrun event this Saturday. The Northern Echo along with an Ambassador from Parkrun will also be there. We think the fairest way to select the five is to put names in the hat so if you would like to be in the draw please comment here by 9pm 2moro night (Wednesday 17th November) and we’ll do the draw at Thursdays AGM. NYSD AGM agenda item on gender equality in XC league Thank you for the 4 responses received in relation to the above. We have the following proposals that we will take to the meeting for further consideration by the NYSD committee. * the opportunity for all to choose to participate in either the shorter or longer distance for the duration of the XC season * to have one race & one distance only (between the current usual shorter & longer distances ) 7 or 8k for example that everyone competes in. * adapting similar to Scottish athletics Method where Men and women run the same distances (in separate races) but at the start of season races are shorter (around 5k) and gradually increase for both genders through the season (to…

I I I know Paul J’s parkrun report will follow but today marked a 1st for Stockton Striders AC - we now have a parkrun 500 club member amongst our ranks. This person did not want a fuss and wanted things low key but with his permission we want to say a massive well done & congratulations to Tony Galilee … not only has he joined the 500 club but has volunteered over 90 times - simply phenomenal. We felt we couldn’t not mark the occassion so presented Tony with a couple of gifts and he definitely deserves not 1 but 2 striders pens don’t you agree 😊😊😊    

We’ve been contacted by Run for All the organisers of the Middlesbrough 10k - they are looking for volunteers. Any one interested please contact eventeers@runforall.com They have roles on route and at the finish from 0730am till 12pm Thank you

Further to the post some weeks ago in response to comments regarding gender equality in XC at a local level, as promised we have requested the item be included at the NYSD AGM next month. Gail Allison-Robinson and myself are attending the meeting on behalf of SSAC committee. Therefore we request anyone with a proposal for the introduction of gender equality at the fixtures and how this would be put into practice please email it to stocktonstriders@gmail.com by Wednesday 3rd November 2021.
