For anyone who wishes to purchase club merchandise, please speak to myself or Andy J (Jennie Johnston) and we will be happy to help you. We do hold some items in-stock (race shirts, embroidered green & blue shirts etc) as well as being able to order other items such as the blue hoodies. More items can be ordered via the Sprinters website, where we have a dedicated sub-page to order hi-viz training shirts, blue half zip tops etc We will also shortly hold a merchandise night at the club where you can purchase items to take away on the night. **LEAGUE EVENT no.15** Marshall Drive parkrun. Sat 31st Aug. Usual drill.. club vest or green top to be worn if you want league points. Also, we now have to mention if you haven’t done any of the league events it is now too late to join in as we only have 7 events left. However, please come along to the parkrun to enjoy the social aspect of being a Strider 💚💙 Please be aware of how many events you have completed, if Marshall Drive is your second event then you will need to complete the remaining events which includes Acklam XC for which you will need to be affiliated. NYSD Cross Country 24/25

LONG POST ALERT.. Cross Country. The XC season starts in October; for now the organisers NYSD Harriers are requesting we provide a list of our club runners taking part. We can add additional members as the season goes on so if you’re unsure maybe spectate before deciding. The XC is open to all abilities. The XC season is made up of 6 events plus a relay event with the end of season presentations held at South Park. The distances are approx 6.5k for the female events.. 10k for the male events. If you wish to take part you must be affiliated with England Athletics; comment below re affiliating if you need to do this. Great North Run bus

We have had a great response from people expressing interest in running a bus to this years Great North Run. I am confident we can fill most the 49 seats with club members and families. So, we have gone ahead and booked it. I have a list of people who have expressed interest. I will give you to this Friday at 5pm to change your mind. After this, you are committed and I will be asking for the payment for your place, even if you don’t travel. Sorry, there’s no discount for travelling one way. Depending on final numbers cost per seat will be between £10 and £14. That pays for the bus as well as tipping the driver. I think that’s very reasonable 😊 Finally, I would personally like…

Ben Robinson memorial football tournament

A sunny day brought out the crowds for the inaugural Ben Robinson memorial football tournament.. 4 teams took part, each bidding to win the trophy. Team 8-1 captained by Joe Staton took on the Foden 5 aka Northern Roofline & Deckline in the first game. A difficult challenging game with The Foden 5 showing some skilful passing resulting in goal after goal; some of which were dubious offside goals (if offside was a thing in 7-a-side).  The final score almost resembled the red team’s name of 8-1. Beth Dang claimed a great assist passing to Tom Holland who scored a cracking consolation goal.  Score 9-1. On the other side of the pitch we had Team 115 charges, captained  by Paul Johnson v Phil Swash’s Team KDB. For all 115 charges…

Charity football match

**Final football tournament post** The pitch will be open from 9am if anyone wants a warm up/kick about. The pitch side cabin will be open during the games for hot drinks and snacks. Trainers or Astro boots only to be worn on the pitch. Changing facilities available. £10 pay to play can be cash on the day or transferred into Ben’s memorial page; any donations from our spectators will be gratefully received. Sausage butties have been ordered and available from the club bar after the tournament £1.50 each. I wonder who will raise the trophy as champions .. Team 8-1? Team 115? or will it be Team KDB or even the Northern Roofline lads?? One thing is certain, you can all play better than England so let’s bring it on…

Move over Euros.. never mind England .. we have the up & coming Ben Robinson memorial charity football match. 7th July 2024. The first games were picked at random by customers at The Hamilton Russell Arms.. long post so please read if you have offered to play… Due to some who had to drop out it is now 7 a side with one of the seven as a substitute.. not to be left out!!EVERYONE should play within a game. Team captains, you will make this decision who starts and who is substituted unless a player wants a break.. substituting them does not mean they can’t play again..
