Food Bank Run update

Club News
Food Bank Run - 19th February As a club, we have decided to join in with RUNR's Food Bank Run. We would love it if you could come along or help out in any way possible. Most of the information is on our poster, but we will update you with the practicalities of the day nearer the time. All we ask is that, if you can, please comment below on what items you will be donating. This helps us (and you) to see what others are bringing along, then the food banks don't end up with 250 toilet rolls! (Yes, we already know you're all thinking of bringing the lightest items to carry!!) The run will be suitable for all abilities, so don't worry about pace. We will also be…

SSAC Food Bank Run Sunday 19/02/23

Club News
Food Bank Run - important ! Date for your diaries - 19/02/23 As you’ll be aware Striders have signed up to take part in this national initiative to organise a food bank run during the month of February. The idea is that clubs ask members to donate items and then organise a run to deliver them (with a back up car to carry surplus). There’s been lots of work going on behind the scenes to arrange this but we can confirm the date will be Sunday 19th February and the plan is to run to 2 foodbanks/community pantry’s. We would expect to meet at the club at around 9:45am to run to the first drop off point in Roseworth and then on to Norton for the 2nd one. Mileage can…

Mental Health Champions

Club News
Around this time last year you may recall we asked if any members would be interested in becoming a SSAC mental health champion. Whilst some members did come forward due to delays in the EA process this didn't progress any further. As a club we are keen to promote this EA initiative and increase our number of Mental Health Champions, so if anyone is interested (you don't need to have come forward previously) we plan to have an informal discussion in the next couple of tea nights (dates to be confirmed). If you were interested last year can you let me know if this is still the case please! Please see link for more information or please speak to myself or Paul Johnson our current Mental Health Champion. Mental Health…

Tonight’s 19/01/23 sessions cancelled

Club News
Tonight’s official club sessions are cancelled. There is a weather warning for ice from 5pm. Paths in places around the club are wet and the concern is that these will turn to ice before sessions start. Added to the mix is that the ‘feels like’ temperatures will be hovering around zero too. Members safety is as always our priority so I’m sure you all understand the reasoning behind the decision. Those who planned to manually vote for their member of the year tonight please use the email system mentioned in earlier posts. The deadline remains 8pm tonight. Those with bottle donations for the birthday party raffle we will collect them on Tuesday. Thanks Andy J

Final plans for my 50k run tomorrow! Thank you everyone for your support 2moro. The plan is to start at 8am at the start of tees barrage parkrun course then head to Newport bridge and back up towards rowing club & beyond to do a 4.25 miles ish figure of 8 loop finishing at the parkrun finish line & taking around 55mins per loop to allow for rehydration & toilet stops! I’m parking at car park near the parkrun and will have a feed station in the boot! I know Gail Allison-Robinson & Sandra S are coming at 8am but would be fantastic if I could have some company for the mid morning /early afternoon laps. In total I’ll need to do 7 & a bit laps! The aim is…
