League event no.15 Marshall Drive Parkrun

Run reports
The weather conditions were perfect, sun shining with a slight breeze.. a nice turn out of Striders who doubled this Parkrun’s usual numbers. Some PBs gained with excellent times achieved 👏👏 Here is the poignant part… Those of you who remember, my Ben, Ben Robinson, he had recently written a song that we Striders had recorded in a music studio in Stockton. It was to raise money for the Trinity Centre for one of our own Debbie Edwards who was fighting breast cancer. Two days after this recording Ben got his own diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer, therefore all sales of the song served both charities… Well, on Ben’s birthday August 6th 2022 we held a parkrunathon with Marshall Drive being the first of the many Parkrun’s, we played Ben’s song…

Run reports
An early morning downpour wasn't enough to dampen the spirits at Wynyard on Saturday. There were two milestones. Oli Hall ran his 100th parkrun. More important, veteran Strider Dave Fender did his first parkrun of 2024. With matron holidaying in Tenerife Dave took full advantage - sneakily convincing an inexperienced member of her nursing team that he was fit enough to be released. (the nurse in question has subsequently been relieved of her duties). Tom Ramsey and Samantha Gray got new pb's. Liz Simpson was 2nd lady home. Dave and I (3rd finisher) achieved 70%+ age-gradings. Gareth Maloney volunteered. Elsewhere, Nicole Edwards recorded a new pb at Stewart as did Declan Taylor-Mcgrath at Riverside and Glenn Cooper(70%+) at Cotsford Fields. Caroline Horton got an 80%+ a-g at Albert. Abby Barker was 2nd lady home…
