Thursday 21 November training sessions
Morning Striders, here are tonight's sessions: Sub 22, led by Sam are doing hills. 22-25, led by Liz are doing meet and retreat. 25-27, led by Cat are doing Intervals: 3 x 1 mile intervals. 27-30, led by Gavin are doing 800m repeats x 4, 200m jog recovery. 30-33, led by Julia are doing 3 miles aiming for negative splits. 33+, led by Tom are doing 10 x 30s 2 min recovery. The door will be covered by Tristan K and James B. Don’t forget it’s also our AGM tonight so please come along to support your club and have your say. There are some big roles to fill on the committee plus the London marathon draw and next years…
Tuesday 19 November training sessions
Morning Striders, here are tonight's sessions: Sub 22, led by Tom are doing fartlek. 22-25 + 25-27, led by Liz are doing a lamppost speed session. 27-30, led by Angela are doing hills 6 minutes x4 with 90s rest. 30-33, led by Suzanne are doing 5 x 1k repeats. 33+, led by Anna are doing an out and back (faster) run. The door will be covered by Tom D and Michael B.
16 November parkrun report
It was a cold wet morning at the barrage on Saturday. That didn't put off the 43 Striders among a 318 total attendance. Georgina King got another personal best time and Rebecca Stout completed her 50th parkrun. Andy J, Stephen M, Lucy O, Gail R, Ben R and Sue R helped with volunteering duties. Elsewhere Christian Oxley got a new pb at Redcar. Striders also at Albert, Bromley, Catterick, Harrogate, Sedgefield, Darlington South, Hartlepool, Flatts Lane, Conynghan Hall, Herrington Country and Millhouses. There was another parkrun from Caroline and David Horton on the other side of the planet. This time it was the Wanaka event where Caroline had the added bonus of finishing first lady and 3rd overall. Morning all, here are tonight's sessions: Sub 22, led by Sam are doing a speed session. 22-25, led by Lucy are doing hills 4 x5 mins. 25-27, led by Cat are doing hills. 27-30, led by Angela are doing 400m repeats x10, 60s standing recovery. 30-33, led by Julia are doing a circular route with hill repeats. 33+, led by Anna are doing walk, jog, sprint triangle. Tuesday 12 November training sessions
Morning all, here are tonight's sessions: Sub 22, led by Paul J are doing 10k tempo run - first 5k easy paced. 22-25, led by Lucy are doing decreasing intervals. 25-27, led by Cat are doing 400m intervals. 27-30, led by Angela are doing tempo run. 30-33, led by Suzanne are doing Out and back (faster) run. 33+, led by Helen are doing 5 x 1k reps - 3 at effort & 2 steady. 9 November parkrun report
A big attendance at the barrage on Saturday including 33 Striders. Pleased it was given the go ahead despite a few slippy patches. I think most people heeded the advice of the marshal on the first bridge to slow right down. Georgina King and Lee Buckle stayed on their feet to get new pb's. David and Viv Murphy were the Striders from the volunteers. Dave Fender failed his fitness test and didn't run. Elsewhere Beverley Harvey got a new pb at Darlington South. Simon Russell was first finisher at a parkrun somewhere in the North East. Runners too at Albert, Heaton, York, Redcar, Stewart, Hartlepool, Flatts Lane and Jesmond Dene. Caroline and David Horton ran at the Blenheim parkrun - which is situated near a farm on the other side…

Morning Striders, here are tonight's sessions: Sub 22, led by Paul J are doing 'Jo Pavey' Hills. 22-25, led by Liz are doing Fartlek. 25-27, led by Cat are doing a strength session. 27-30, led by Angela are doing Negative splits run. 30-33, led by Julia are doing 3 mins threshold, 60 seconds recovery, (x8). 33+, led by Helen are doing 4 sets of 2 minuets flat and 2 minuets hills. The door will be covered by Suzanne B and Martin G. Happy running 🏃♀️🏃♂️
2nd November parkrun report
30 Striders at the barrage on a very special day for me old pal, and club legend, Dave Fender. Despite his dodgy knee Dave made it to 200 parkruns. Well done mate. Returning to his residence he discovered that matron had baked him a cake and arranged for a Glenn Miller tribute orchestra to play in the evening. It was one of the happiest days of Dave's life. Amy Brunton came back for parkrun number 2 and got a new pb. Jamie Bentley was third finisher. Following an extra teaspoon of creatine powder on my cornflakes I was able to put in a late burst and came in first. Kirsty A, Debbie E, Helen J, David M and Viv were among the volunteers. Halloween run tonight
Tonight’s our Halloween run so no formal sessions. 🎃👻 It’s all inclusive with a few challenges along the way. A great way to have some fun with people you don’t usually get to train with. There’s a prize for the best fancy dress so let’s see your best zombies, witches, ghosts... It’s also a tea/coffee night so please stop back for a brew after. Any donations of spooky biscuits or cakes would be welcome. And don’t forget to bring your own cup if you can. The waste produced by throw away cups is really scary!
