Most parkruns fell foul of the freezing weather conditions. However, Graham and Abby Barker must have been relieved that their event was given the go-ahead. The couple had travelled to Poland - and ticked Z off the list with a run at Zamek w Malborku. Abby was 1st lady home with a 70%+ a-g. David and Caroline Horton did Event 1 at Birtinya Island on the Sunshine Coast of Australia. Beth Dang (2nd lady home) and Daniele Meucci attended Fairview (Dublin). Striders too at Cotsford Fields, Oak Hill, Riverside and Sherwood Pines. PJ

Wynyard was given the green light on Saturday - so it was time to find the car ice scraper. Steve Dickson wasn't put off by the bitterly cold conditions and bagged a new pb. Emily Green and Kirsty Alderthay volunteered. Elsewhere, Daniele Meucci and Beth Dang got new pb's at Town Moor. The venue also saw Abby Barker (3rd lady home) and Emma Fleming achieve 70%+ age-gradings. Craig Thomas got a new pb at Flatts Lane. Further afield, Pam Steadman and Nigel Radcliffe had a run at Amager Strandpark near Copenhagen. Caroline (new pb), David (new pb) and Mark Horton enjoyed a slightly warmer run at South Bank (Brisbane). A cool, misty morning greeted the parkrunners at Wynyard on Saturday. At the countdown Emily Palmer took up a professional looking starting posture - and it became apparent that Emily was feeling the need for speed. Just under 20 minutes later and a new pb, 70%+ age-grading, 1st lady home, 2nd overall finisher and 2 muddy legs - were safely in the bag. Kirsty Alderthay volunteered. Elsewhere, Ian Morris completed his 150th parkrun at Albert Park. It was another good day at the office for Nicole Edwards as she recorded an all-course pb. Tidy work Nicole. Striders were out in force at a blustery Wynyard Woodland on Saturday. Hats off to Aaron, Kevin A, Amy, Tony, Dinah, Gail, Gareth, Glenn, Joanne C, Helen J, Zaheer, Jonathon, Katie B, Kirsty, Michelle and Steve M - all of whom were supportive volunteers at the event. Matt Kirby reached the 50 parkrun milestone. Elsewhere, Tara Oxley did her 100th parkrun at Stewart. Leanne Warters bagged a new pb at Sewerby as did Beth Dang at Whinlatter Forest. It was a bright, crisp morning at Wynyard on Saturday. 41 Striders attended as Katie Ayton celebrated her 250th parkrun with family and friends. A nice selection of cake and scones was on the menu after the finish. Steve Dickson got a new pb and I was 3rd home. David Green, Michelle Ince, Helen Johnston, Steve Mitchinson, Victoria Slatcher and Pam Steadman volunteered. Elsewhere, Hartlepool United fan Kevin Dove celebrated his 200th parkrun at Stewart Park. Phil Baines recorded a new pb at Cotsford Fields. Caroline and David Horton had a run at Our Park (Tasmania) and Faye Buckton did Centennial (Sydney). A gaggle of brightly coloured Striders lit up a dull morning at Albert Park on Saturday. Sam Johnston was celebrating his 400th parkrun and Andy Johnston his 250th. They were joined by a further 38 club members. Mike Ford and Michael Kilding bagged new pb's. Glenn Cooper, Sharon Lawson-Green and I got 70%+ age-gradings. Afterwards, cake was consumed before people headed home to batten down the hatches for the arrival of Storm Darragh. Elsewhere, tourism awards go to Caroline and David Horton for a run at Queens Domain (Hobart). Holly and Declan Taylor-Mcgrath travelled to Krakow - with Declan celebrating his 200th parkrun. It was a very mild weekend for the time of year. Striders were involved in a cross-country and a multi-distance event on Sunday - but we'll start as always with Saturday's parkruns. Sarah Winter was 2nd lady to finish and Gail Robinson volunteered at Wynyard. Elsewhere, Daniele Meucci did his 150th parkrun at Roundhay. Rachel Kate (new pb) was 3rd lady home at Darlington. Michael Kilding got a new pb at Albert as did Sarah Cotton at Newbiggin-by-the-Sea. Emily Palmer was 2nd lady home at Marshall Drive. Oli Hall (70%+ age-grading) was 2nd finisher at Hartlepool. Storm Bert caused havoc with Saturday's parkruns. A bitterly cold and snowy Wynward Woodland survived the cancellations. Hats off to Alistair Plenderleith and all the other volunteers who braved the atrocious conditions. 62 hardy souls slipped and slopped their way to the finish. I've done a few cold parkruns over the years - but Saturday's was right up there with the chilliest. My hands still hurt several hours after the event had finished. Elsewhere, Hartlepool was also given the go-ahead - and 19 Striders attended. Michelle Ince and Beth Dang completed their 200th events and Grant Mcgrath (new pb) did his 100th. A cold snap is on the way but conditions were still pretty good for Saturday's parkruns. Wynyard saw Kirsty Alderthay volunteer. I was 2nd finisher. The mild, calm spell of weather continued this week. 15 Striders enjoyed the benign conditions at Wynyard - with Reece Mackey and Rachel Kate getting new pb's. Jonathon Archer and I were 1st and 2nd finishers - achieving 70%+ age-gradings. Elsewhere, Katie Barlow bagged an all-course pb at Albert. Despite only starting in 2023, her parkrun tally is already up to 71. Nice one Katie. Suzanne Brodie was on her travels again. Johannesburg was the venue, and she was 3rd lady home.
