Paul’s weekend report… It was an excellent morning for Gareth Maloney at Wynyard on Saturday. Gareth celebrated his 400th parkrun (with an additional 75 volunteering credits), and got a 70%+ age-grading and a new PB. Steve Mitchinson and Liz Simpson recorded new PB's. Jim Wright, Kirsty Alderthay and Gareth volunteered. Elsewhere, Charlotte Morgan was in superb form at Albert. A massive all-course PB, a first ever 70%+ age-grading and 2nd lady home were all achieved. Nice one Charlotte. Mathew Carling, Glenn Cooper and Tim Clark got 70%+ a-g's. Steve Cotton bagged a new PB at Town Moor, as did Pam Steadman at Durham, Mark Horton at Millfield, David Murphy at Cotsford Fields, Samantha and Ian Gray at Darlington and Kris Allen (70%+) at Herrington Country. 17 Striders took a trip to Hamsterley Forest on Saturday. It may be one of the most scenic parkruns around - but it's not for the faint of heart. The loose stones, tree roots and brutal climb to halfway are one thing. However, there is an even more sinister element to the venue. Gruffalo roam the forest - and they often attack, then eat, dogs and small children during the event. I just hope and pray that everyone made it to the finish. Parkrunners enjoyed another warm Saturday morning at Wynyard this week. James Heslop was in red-hot form as he recorded an all-course PB. Great work James. Gareth Maloney achieved a 70%+ age-grading. Samantha and Ian Gray bagged new PB's at Riverside as did Grant Mcgrath and Emily Palmer at Holyrood. Doreen Morris at Cotsford Fields and Pam Steadman at Leazes also got new PB's. Wynyard Woodland hosted its 100th event on Saturday. 38 Striders attended as Liz Simpson celebrated her 500th parkrun. Nice one Liz. Reece Mackey got an all-course PB. Good work Reece. Steve Dickson, Helen Johnston and Zaheer Patankar recorded Wynyard PB's. Glenn Cooper achieved a 70%+ age-grading. Aaron Atkinson, Dan Meucci, Kirsty Alderthay and Michelle Ince volunteered. Elsewhere, Matthew Kirby recorded a big all-course PB at Albert. Tidy work Matt. Kevin Dove continued his recent good form with an Albert PB. Suzanne Brodie travelled to Hasenheide (Berlin). It was pacing day at Wynyard on Saturday. Andy Laverick, Kirsty Alderthay, Michelle Ince, David Mogie and Jim Wright volunteered - several of whom were on pacing duties. Kevin Dove got a new PB. Gareth Maloney and I achieved a 70%+ age-grading. Elsewhere, Nicole Edwards bagged an all-course PB at Albert. Nice one Nicole. The venue also saw Glenn Cooper and Tim Clark get 70%+ a-g's. Alistair Plenderleith and Carl Hayes posted new PB's at Hartlepool. Also running was Phil Swash - who was disappointed to miss the Boro Half Marathon through injury. However, I'm reliably informed that he completed the Hartlepool parkrun with no ill effects - so that's a welcome boost for Phil. Kris Allen got a 70%+ a-g at Upton Court (Slough). It was a good day for the Gray's at Hartlepool. Ian (new PB) did his 150th parkrun and Samantha recorded an all-course PB. Tidy work folks. Sunday's Middlesbrough Half Marathon was the undoubted highlight of the weekend. It proved to be extraordinarily popular with club members - with some amazing support and performances. We'll delve a little deeper into the event after a quick look at Saturday's parkruns. Glenn Cooper achieved a 70%+ age-grading and Michael Kilding got a new PB at Albert. Pam Steadman bagged a new PB at Denton Dene. Tom Ramsey had a run at Coffs Harbour in Australia. Striders too at Wynyard, Windy Nook, Sedgefield, Redcar, Stewart, Woodley (Reading), Whinlatter Forest, Marshall Drive, Tyne Green, Hamsterley Forest and Vermuyden Way (Scunthorpe). Close to 3000 runners and plenty of supporters gathered in Central Square before the 9am Half Marathon start. It was a chilly morning and there were long queues for the loos.…

A bright and mild morning welcomed the parkrunners at Wynyard this week. Energised by a double espresso and some industrial strength creatine tablets, Dave Fender passed his first fitness test in 6 months and joined the assembled starters. Dave and I recorded 70%+ age-gradings and top 3 finishes. Matron was delighted. Jim Wright and Steve Mitchinson volunteered.
