Important coaching announcement:
Hi all, just a few things to update you on with regards to the coaching at stockton striders. Due to increased numbers and a wider variation of abilities it has been decided that the 33+ group will now become the 33-37 group.
For those of our members who are over 37 minutes for a 5km, we will have a progression group which will follow a 6 week training programme designed to help you aim towards the 37 minute mark. The progression group will be coached by the majority of the coaches at the club and at the end of the 6 week programme, members will run a 5km. If you manage to do it in 37 minutes or under then you are eligible to run in the 33-37 group, however if you are unable to run a 5km in 37 minutes after the 6 week course, you will be asked to stay in the progression group and keep following the 6 week training programme.
It is hoped that as a result of this, we can cater for everyone’s needs whilst still being an all abilities club that benefits everyone. We aim to start this progression group as of the first Tuesday in October, to give myself and the coaches time to plan a rota and training plan, and also to have more members qualified as LIRF’s.
If you are interested in becoming a coach there is an upcoming course on September 17th at Teesside University. A few of our members are going on this so if you’d also like to then please let me know. The club will pay for your place, however there are a few guidelines you will have to commit to before we can book you on.
Thank you
