May Session Plans

❗️Trail Runs, Track Sessions and Time Trial Events❗️🌲🏃‍♀️⏱️

Here’s everything you need to know looking into the training sessions throughout May 🗓️

Tuesdays sessions will follow the usual format with seven groups doing various speed sessions taking place from the club. At least two groups from the seven will be assigned the track to train on each Tuesday. The groups on the track will remain separate and will all be doing their own session decided by their coach. Every group will be assigned the track equally throughout the summer. 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Thursdays sessions for this month are as follows:

Thursday 2nd
Option 1️⃣ – All inclusive track session
Option 2️⃣ – All inclusive Trail Run taking place along Wynyard Walkway. 🌲 This will be a 40 minute run, 20 minutes out, 20 minutes back. Suitable for all paces.

Thursday 9th
Option 1️⃣ – All inclusive track session
Option 2️⃣ – All inclusive session from the club (using a location close by to the clubhouse)

Thursday 16th
Option 1️⃣ – All inclusive track session
Option 2️⃣ – 5 Mile Time Trial Event at Tees Barrage. ⏱️ This is an opportunity to push yourself and see how fast you are over 5 miles. There will be an opportunity to do this again towards the end of summer to see how much you’ve improved. More details and the route will be shared closer to the time.

Thursday 24th
All inclusive track session only

On Thursday 31st the club will be cancelled due to the NYMAC relays taking place with a large number of coaches in attendance.

I have attached the full Training Plan for May below.

Each group has been assigned a letter from A to F, or assigned the letter T for track, every Tuesday. Coaches who are available will pick a session from the options that are in that category.

The categories are as follows and can be seen in greater detail on the colourful image below:

A – Long Repeats
B – Short Repeats
C – Interval Training
D – Hills/Steps
E – Other (such as Medley, Fartlek and Tempo)
F – Social Runs
T – Track Session

As you can see on the plan, we have a Social Run and tea/biscuit night on Tuesday 21st May. ☕️
