A warm, sunny morning greeted the 13 Striders at Wynyard on Saturday. Marc Hooton got a new pb and I was 2nd finisher. Amy Gallilee, Gareth Maloney and Tony Gallilee volunteered. Elsewhere, no fewer than 21 Striders took a trip to Whitby to do the Cinder Track parkrun. 16 members were first timers on what is described as a course that runs along the tree lined Cinder Track, with the route offering majestic views of Whitby and the Esk Valley as you cross the iconic Whitby Viaduct. 25 Striders headed to the historic and picturesque Fountains Abbey parkrun on Saturday. It was another event for the club-league on what was a hot and humid morning. Pam Steadman celebrated her 100th parkrun. Glenn Cooper and Sharon Lawson-Green achieved 70%+ age-gradings. Maxine Buckton, Liz Simpson and Andy Johnston got new pb's. Abby Barker (70%+) was 1st lady home. Elsewhere, back at Wynyard, 17 Striders braved the heat as Samantha Gray did her 150th parkrun. Nicole Edwards recorded a new pb and I was 1st finisher. It was a miserable weekend - more like October than July. Andy Laverick and Maxine Buckton weren't put off by the inclement weather as they recorded new pb's at Wynyard. A queue was building up behind Steve Mitchinson when he crossed the finish line at Wynyard. He was knelt down trying to get his breath back. Once recovered he declared "I only came here for an easy run." Steve was one of 18 Striders at Wynyard this week. It was cool with light winds - and at the start I offered to help pace Steve to try and crack his pb. Despite not feeling 100%, Steve agreed and we were joined by Oli to give it a go. A bright and breezy morning for the 12 Striders at Wynyard. Emma Westmoreland recorded an all-course pb. Nice one Emma. It was my 250th parkrun and I was desperate for my old pal, veteran Strider, Dave Fender to attend. I visited at 7am to witness matron putting him through an intense fitness test. He didn't even come close to passing it - and had to be content with a morning of watching Judge Judy on True Crime (Freeview channel 67). I left with both of us in tears. A difficult parkrun ensued. It was a lovely sunny morning for the 18 Striders who attended the Jubilee parkrun on Saturday. Another event in the club-league - the course is described as an undulating mix of grass and paths.
