There was plenty happening this week - parkruns, cross-country, Mother Shipton's Soft Shoe Shuffle and veteran Strider Dave Fender's Halloween misadventures. It seemed that Albert Park was the place to be on Saturday morning. No fewer than 33 Striders attended as Kate Clark did her 50th parkrun. Phil Baines (70%+ age-grading) bagged an all-course pb in a speedy sub-20 time. Nice one Phil. In-form Nicole Edwards got another all-course pb - and new member Lee Archacki also joined in the fun. Lee has now recorded 3 consecutive all-course parkrun best times. Tidy running folks. Michael Meggs, Glenn Cooper and David Horton got 70%+ a-g's and Caroline Horton an 80%+. It was the perfect morning for doing a parkrun on Saturday. 14 Striders attended Wynyard, with Matty Clarkson and Zoe Cornforth bagging new pb's. Kirsty Alderthay, Jim Wright, Emily Green and Paul Johnson volunteered. Elsewhere, John Wilson did his 50th parkrun at Albert. The venue also saw David and Caroline Horton achieve 70%+ and 80%+ age-gradings, respectively. Rachel Kate did her 50th parkrun at Farfalle near Venice. A bit more about Rachel's exploits later. Katie Barlow got a new pb at Silksworth as did Matt Kirby at Stewart. 15 members attended Hartlepool, where Tim Clark got a 70%+ a-g. Nicole Edwards was a 'first timer'. Therefore, I wouldn't normally be able to spot an all-course pb - but with Nicole's recent form, it was apparent she had achieved just that.…

A blustery Sunday saw Striders out in force, both at home and abroad. However, we'll start with the relative tranquility of Saturday's parkruns. Amelia Whitehouse did her 50th parkrun, and Daniele Meucci got a new pb, at Wynyard. Beth Dang, Daniele, Helen Johnston and Kirsty Alderthay volunteered. Elsewhere, Sedgefield was the venue for another event in the club-league. 27 members attended - and witnessed an impressive double for Gail Robinson. Gail did both her 150th parkrun and 150th volunteering stint. Thank you for your dedication to the local running scene, you've helped numerous people over the years, Gail. A chilly Wynyard parkrun saw Lucy Thompson (70%+ a-g) as the 1st lady home. (make sure to list your club as SSAC for future mentions, Lucy). Kirsty Alderthay and Declan Taylor-Mcgrath volunteered. Phil Baines got a 70%+ a-g and Kevin Walls an all-course pb at Hartlepool. Nice one Kevin. Sarah Cotton did her 50th parkrun at Whitley Bay. Suzanne Brodie had a run at Cornerstone Lakes (West Chicago). Michelle Ince and Joanne Wood got new pb's at Hackworth as did Steve Dickson at Riverside. 21 Striders attended Albert where Glenn Cooper achieved a 70%+ a-g. Striders too at Bushy, Silksworth, Warrington, Sedgefield, Redcar, Blackhill, Stewart, Darlington, Rising Sun, Heslington, Sherwood Pines, Dalby Forest, Cotsford Fields, Queen's (Glasgow), Ashington, Battersea and Fulwell Quarry. Parkruns, marathons and the first cross-country of the season were all on the menu this week. The weather was good on Saturday as Gareth Maloney and David Mogie volunteered at Wynyard. Elsewhere, 16 Striders attended Albert where Nicole Edwards and Sharon Lawson-Green were in tip-top form. Nicole recorded a huge all-course parkrun pb. Sharon (70%+ age-grading) also got an all-course best time. Nice work ladies. Not to be left out - David Green (70%+) got an Albert pb. Absolutely perfect running conditions this weekend. Wynyard saw Alistair Plenderleith complete his 50th parkrun - with Jim Wright and Kirsty Alderthay volunteering. Elsewhere, 15 Striders attended Albert where Katie Barlow, John Wilson and Lisa Graves bagged all-course parkrun pb's. Great running folks. Jamie Bentley achieved a 70%+ age-grading and I an 80%+. Fuelled by pizza - David Green (70%+) and Kate Clark (3rd lady home) also obtained all-course parkrun pb's at Hartlepool. Kate beating her previous best by a considerable margin. Nice running guys.
