Paul’s parkrun report

Run reports
There was a Brucie bonus of 2 parkruns in 2 days this week. (Not entirely sure if some of the milestones were achieved on the Saturday or Sunday...) For the Saturday runs: Hartlepool saw Steve Cotton reach 100 parkruns and Andy Johnston 200. Helen Mcilvenny got a 70%+ age-grading. At Stewart Park Nicola Darragh did her 50thparkrun and Victoria Slatcher her 100th. Stephen Mcneil got a pb. Izzy Morgan was 2nd lady to finish at Sedgefield and Chloe Turner recorded a pb at Northallerton. Striders too at Albert, Ferry Meadows (Cambridge), Darlington, Cross Flatts (Leeds), Flatts Lane, Marshall Drive and Conyngham Hall (Knaresborough). At the time of writing, I haven't got all the stats from the new year's day runs. However, after a quick glance at the local runs I…

Run reports
With most of the local parkruns cancelled I was surprised to see we still had members who managed to find an open event. 10 Striders made the trip to Cotsford Fields at Horden. The course is described as multi-terrain and is situated a few miles up the coast from Hartlepool. Elsewhere, Holly Taylor was third lady to finish at Jubilee. Striders too at Bushy, Hull, Millfield and Doddington Hall (Lincoln). PJ

Run reports
Icy conditions meant that many of the local parkruns got cancelled on Saturday. Hartlepool was given the go-ahead - with 3 Striders in great form. Emma Fleming recorded an all-course pb and a first sub-22-minute time - smashing her previous best by over 30 seconds. She also achieved a 70%+ age-grading and was 2nd lady to finish. Great work Emma. Glenn Cooper got a pb and Dan Meucci was 3rd finisher. Elsewhere, Holly Taylor completed her 200th parkrun at Belvoir Castle near Grantham. Holly was also first lady to finish. There were a further 13 Striders at Stewart, with Wimbledon Common, Flatts Lane, Fountains Abbey, Northallerton, Hamsterley Forest and Pont y Balu (near Snowdonia) the other venues. Paul J

20 Striders attended Albert Park on Saturday for the final round of the canine league. Simon Russell ran like a whippet to record a 70%+ age-grading. Elsewhere, Chloe Turner recorded an all-course parkrun pb at Darlington. Nice one Chloe. Zoe Cornforth got a pb at Flatts Lane. Holly Taylor was first lady to finish at New Earswick and Izzy Morgan was third at Sedgefield. Mike Cleasby gets this week's tourism award with a trip to Zuiderpark in Den Haag. Striders too at Hartlepool, Beckton, Stewart, Jubilee, Carlisle and Whitby. Sunday saw the third cross-country event of the season at Summerhill, Hartlepool. If the previous event had been mild, flat and firm - this one was very different. There was lots of mud, plenty of steep hills and a cool easterly…

Run reports
Around 50 Striders gathered at Kirklevington Grange Prison for a parkrun on Saturday. Normally a closed event - thank you to Simon Russell for arranging our participation. The aim was to raise more funds and awareness for Pancreatic Cancer UK. Thursday's race night on World Pancreatic Cancer Day had been a great success. Saturday's event was equally good. A first for many of us - the course was 6 laps of a very boggy field with a few concrete paths in between. After Gail's impromptu warm-up routine we were off. Female course record holder Abby Barker set a good early pace but soon had to stop when her laces became undone. I've no sympathy for Abby. She's responsible for tying her own laces and is old enough to realise you…

19 Striders at Sedgefield on Saturday - with Joanne Woodward making her parkrun debut. Zoe Cornforth and Sue Russell recorded new pb's. Nice to see Ben Robinson on the results list too. Elsewhere, Kevin Dove pb'd at Stewart and Holly Taylor was second lady to finish at Hartlepool. Caroline Horton and Stevie Cooper got 70%+ age-gradings at Albert. The canine league at Redcar has been covered in an earlier post. (I thought one of the dogs on the photo was a cat at first glance...) Dara Mavi takes this week's tourism award with a run at Atholl near Johannesburg. Striders too at Pontefract, Pontypridd, Flatts Lane, Druridge Bay, Northallerton, Sherwood Pines (Nottingham), Hamsterley Forest and Whitby. Sunday saw round two of the cross-country season with an event at Redcar. It…

Run reports
Sometimes marathons are a bit like London buses... This weekend saw Tom Ramsey's marathon challenge to help raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK. More on that later. Firstly, we'll start at The Grange where 33 Striders helped boost the attendance. There were new pb's for Tom Murphy, Emma Fleming, Jill Abel, Chloe Turner and Jennie Johnston. Simon Russell (70%+) was third home. Izzy Morgan was first lady to finish and Holly Taylor third. Also, a little birdie tells me that Sandra Stabler is finding the 5k distance a bit too easy and prefers something around the 6k mark instead... Elsewhere, Emily Chaytor reached the 100-parkrun milestone at Sedgefield. Striders too at Albert, Hampstead Heath, Cannon Hill, Stewart, Hartlepool, Flatts Lane, Rushmoor, Druridge Bay and Whitby. I'm sure most of you…
