Striders 5k mini league

For those not on FB Well it seems by the number of comments the Striders 5k mini league proposal is going to be well supported. Given the potential numbers the plan is to now have a male and female league. The next stage is all those wishing to take part confirm their initial 5k handicap time by emailing stocktonstriders@gmail.com. Times need to be submitted by 8pm on the 8th April please. If unsure what your current time is you could always have a few practice runs between now and Thursday. Round 1 of 7 starts next Saturday (10th). A reminder will be posted through the week. Run to walk

As you know F2F sessions will re-commence this Thursday (1st) adopting the rule of six in the interim (see earlier posts for further details). In addition to the traditional groups in the short term we are also trialling a 7th group, ‘walk to run’. As the title suggests this group’s session will be a mixture of running and walking (eg run 7 mins, walk 3 mins, run 8 mins walk 2 mins etc). It is aimed at members who for whatever reason have not been able to run as much as they would have liked during lockdown. Please see below - only for those members not on Facebook Striders Handicap Spring 5k Mini League Hi all As mentioned in my previous post the committee are exploring the interest of creating a club 5k mini league during April and May. Please have a read of the proposal. Rules Members submit a current realistic 5k time before the league starts. This will be your initial handicap time and must be credible for the mini league format to work properly. No ‘bandits’ please! The mini league will run over seven consecutive weekly rounds. The 5k completion timeframe for each round is a Saturday through to Thursday. The mini league will commence on Saturday 10th April meaning round one will close on Thursday 15th April. For those members not on FB Hi all Important Club Updates. - F2F sessions will resume on Thursday 1.4.21 - F2F sessions in the interim will be restricted to once a week alternating between a Thursday and a Tuesday. - F2F sessions will continue to adopt the ‘rule of six’ until advised otherwise (1 coach : 5 members per group). - Bookings will once again be made online via MagnaPass (those new to the system login instructions to follow) - Members participating in F2F sessions will meet in the club car park or at other designated meeting points (like previous arrangements). - No payment required on the day when participating in F2F sessions. For those not on FB Morning, Today’s virtual session is everyone’s favourite.... hill sprints Find a steep hill and run up and down for 5 minutes. Run a hard effort up the hill and jog down for recovery. Have a 2 minute recovery either walking or a very slow jog. Repeat this 4 times so you are doing 5 x 5 minutes of hills. Remember to warm up and cool down before and after your session. Enjoy!

For those not on Facebook Remember our last Red Nose Day running experience?! This year may look a little different, and definitely with more social distancing, but we can still mark Red Nose Day 2021 and raise a bit of money at the same time. So, it's relay challenge time again. Similar format to the rainbow relay, comment below to register your interest in taking part and we will put you into a relay team. Each team member must run a leg of at least 1 mile, maximum 6 miles, in team order. All teams have from 6am Saturday (if anyone is a very early bird) until 6pm Sunday to complete all legs.
