Matron looked worried when I checked in to see how my dear friend Dave Fender was doing on Saturday. On entering Dave's room our worst fears were realised. He was missing... The Wynyard parkrun was cancelled this week due to the weather. Eight Striders took a trip to Millfield in North Yorkshire for the first time. It's described as a mixture of tarmac, trail and grass. With Grant Mcgrath present we'll soon be able to see how it all went on YouTube. A further five Striders went to Greenfield Valley near Chester. Abby Barker (70%+ age-grading) led the entire field home. Nice one Abby. Not far behind were Emma Fleming (70%+) as 2nd lady to finish and Izzy Morgan as 3rd. Lots to report this week. It was a glorious sunny day for our runners at York on Sunday - more on that later. Steve Mitchinson celebrated his 300th parkrun at Wynyard on Saturday. John Stapleton got a new pb. Kirsty Alderthay, Michelle Ince and Gail Robinson volunteered. Elsewhere, Tony Gallilee did his 600th parkrun at Northallerton. I know Tony doesn't like a lot of fuss with milestones so I'll just say well done on a fine achievement, Tony. The venue saw Izzy Morgan get a new pb and Emma Fleming (70%+ age-grading) was 3rd lady home. Jane Stohrer did her 100th parkrun at Tyne Green. It was another warm October day for the 14 Striders at Wynyard on Saturday. Andy Laverick, Christopher Lovell, Liz Simpson, Michelle Hart and David Mogie all came away with new pb's. Kirsty Alderthay, Sam Johnston, Andy Laverick, Gareth Maloney and Gail Robinson volunteered. Elsewhere, Albert Park was the venue for Paul Drake's all-course pb. Nice one Paul. Oli Hall, Phil Baines and Helen Mcilvenny all achieved 70%+ age-gradings. Helen was also first lady to finish. Jonathan and Gavin Chapman-Galloway made their parkrun debuts at Hartlepool - where Glenn Cooper (70%+) pb'd and Michael Meggs (70%+) was first finisher. It was the first cross-country event of the season at a warm and humid Acklam on Sunday. More on that later. Saturday at Wynyard saw Paul Drake, Declan Mcgrath, Kevin Dove and David Edwards get new pb's. Holly Taylor was 2nd lady to finish. Kirsty Alderthay, Michelle Ince, Neil Mcgee and Stephen Mitchinson volunteered. Elsewhere, of the 11 Striders at Albert, Tom Marrs (70%+ age-grading) was 2nd finisher in a new pb. It was a quieter affair on the running front this week. Just the 8 Striders at Wynyard with Liz Simpson, David Edwards and Michael Meggs (3rd finisher) getting new pb's. Kirsty Alderthay, Gareth Maloney and Neil Mcgee volunteered. Elsewhere, of the 11 members attending Stewart Park, Paul Drake pb'd and Caroline Horton got a 70%+ age-grading. John Wilson pb'd and Helen Mcilvenny (70%+) was 2nd lady to finish at Hartlepool. Emma Fleming (70%+) was 1st lady to finish at Hackworth. Hartlepool saw Steve Cotton get a 70%+ a-g and Izzy Morgan 2nd lady home. Holly Taylor was 3rd lady home at Hilly Fields (Lewisham). It was a hot couple of days for our parkrunners and Great North Run participants this weekend. 20 Striders attended Wynyard where Michael Meggs, Tom Holland, John Corvesor and David Edwards kept their cool to record new pb's. Andy Laverick, Fran Corvesor, Gail Robinson, Gareth Maloney, Michelle Ince and Neil Mcgee volunteered. Elsewhere, 9 Striders went to Thorp Perrow (Bedale) where Abby Barker (70%+ age-grading) and Emma Fleming were 1st and 3rdladies to finish respectively. Lucy Owens did her 150th parkrun at Redcar. Julia Ansbro completed her 100th parkrun at Stewart. A venue that saw pb machine Keran Hodgson get, you've guessed it, another pb. Andrew Beevers got an all-course pb at Hartlepool. Nice work. Some pleasant sunshine this week for our parkrunners and entrants to the Middlesbrough 10k. We had 16 runners at Wynyard with Michael Meggs, Ian Saul, Stevie Cooper, John Corvesor and David Edwards getting new pb's. Andy L, Michelle I, Glenn C, Helen J and Kirsty A volunteered. Elsewhere, we had 2 runners in great form at Albert - with Caroline Horton achieving an 80%+ age-grading and Oli Hall (70%+) 2ndfinisher in an all-course parkrun best time. Tidy running guys. Elsewhere, Hartlepool saw Michelle Hart reach 300 parkruns and Steve Cotton achieve a 70%+ age-grading. A further 14 Striders went to Albert park where 3 members were in exceptional from. Oli Hall, Tom Holland and Keran Hodgson recorded big all-course parkrun best times. Nice work. Michael Meggs (70%+ a-g) ran his 100thparkrun. Paul Drake got a new pb on his 50thparkrun. It was another busy weekend of running for the club. Striders were out in force at Saturday's parkruns and we had a great turnout at the Branches & Bays 10k trail race on Sunday. 11 Striders ran at Wynyard with Craig Morgan, Amy Gallilee and Tony Gallilee getting new pb's. Fran Corvesor and Kirsty Alderthay volunteered. Elsewhere, 11 more members chose Hartlepool where Sam Johnston celebrated his 350th parkrun. Sam jogged round with Phil Swash and Tom Marrs. Tom pushed his baby daughter, Thea, round for her first ever parkrun. (Thea was later disqualified after an overzealous run director deemed that the tread on her buggy tyres was too low). Speedster Tom Murphy was 1stfinisher. 14 Striders did the Leazes parkrun where Emma Fleming and Glenn Cooper achieved 70%+ age-gradings.…

More wet conditions for Saturday's parkruns - but a marked improvement for Sunday's Darlington 10k. 13 Striders ran at Wynyard Woodland. Amy Gallilee and Tony Gallilee got new pb's. Emma Fleming (70%+ age-grading) was 1st lady to finish and 2nd overall - just a few seconds from leading the entire field home. Gail R, Gareth M, Glenn C, Joanne C and Michelle Ince helped with volunteering. Elsewhere, Tom Ramsey had an excellent run at Hartlepool. Tom (70%+ a-g) was 2ndfinisher in an all-course parkrun pb.
