Cross Country Road relays

Club News
Hi all. Re the NYSD Cross Country road relays. For Stockton Striders to take part we need at least one more female Emily & Faye will be your team mates. We also need three men to run with Michael. You must be affiliated but is doesn’t matter if you didn’t participate in the cross country itself and you must wear a club vest (see details below). We do appreciate it is Mothering Sunday and the races take place over lunchtime so could be difficult for you to attend. However, if you are free and do fancy running two laps of South Park in Darlington please comment below. Thank you.

The final results and statistics have now been published for our very successful 2021/22 cross country season. The following is a summary of Stockton Striders achievements - for those who don't fancy trawling through pages of stats on the official NYSD site. Our women's team went into the final event at Whitby neck and neck with Richmond & Zet Harriers in the race for 2nd place overall. By the absolute finest of margins our ladies prevailed and are now officially the 2nd best cross-country team in North Yorkshire/South Durham! Who'd have thought it - little old Stockton Striders - what a brilliant achievement. Thanks to all who took part. Paul’s parkrun report

Run reports
A lovely sunny day on Saturday saw 19 Striders choose Sedgefield as a venue. Yvonne Smith, Michelle Ince, Ben Robinson and Simon Russell recorded new pb's. Ben and Simon also getting regional age-gradings of over 70%. Elsewhere, Albert Park saw Stephen Mcneal get a new pb - with Jane Stohrer and Lisa Graves getting all-course pb's. Jane had the added bonus of a first age-grading in excess of 70%. Nice one Jane. Tom Marrs and Steve Cotton got all-course pb's and 70%+ a-g's at Hartlepool. Tom is edging ever closer to a sub 17-minute time and Steve a sub 20. Milestones I think both runners will achieve this year. Doreen Morris pb'd at Stewart and our one podium finish of the day went to Holly Taylor who was 2nd lady…

Paul’s weekend race report

Run reports
A bright and breezy weekend saw the usual Saturday parkruns - and a sizeable club turnout at the Thirsk 10-miler on Sunday. Emily Palmer was first lady to finish at Albert recording a 70%+ age-grading in the process. Stevie Cooper also got over 70% - as did Simon Russell at Darlington South. There were new pb's for Mike Cleasby at Marshall Drive and David Murphy at Jubilee. Beth Dang continued her Toronto adventure with a new pb and 2nd female finish. Striders too at Hartlepool, Cannon Hill, Sedgefield, Stewart, Peter Pan (Hull), Hackworth, Southwark, Flatts Lane, Tonbridge, Druridge Bay, Northallerton, Herrington Country and Wollaton Hall (Nottingham). I've had a look at the Thirsk 10-miler results. Reckon some of the miles would have been quite challenging in a fairly stiff breeze. There…

Red Nose Day Event

Training
Thursday (17 March) will be our Red Nose Day event. This will be a run (approx 3.5 - 4 miles) with challenges before, during and after. Points will be awarded for each challenge. As we all know points mean prizes (the prizes could be a rare Striders pen 🖊). The run will be done in random mixed teams and will be ran at the pace of the slowest team member. There will be no points based on the teams running pace and it is suitable for everyone. The emphasis for this event is fun. As it’s Red Nose Day we would like everyone to wear red. This can be a simple as a red t-shirt/had or as extravagant as an inflatable strawberry. However, there will be points awarded for the…
