A cold snap is on the way but conditions were still pretty good for Saturday's parkruns. Wynyard saw Kirsty Alderthay volunteer. I was 2nd finisher. Elsewhere, Steve Dickson bagged an all-course pb at Hartlepool. Nice running Steve. Michael Meggs got a 70%+ age-grading. 12 Striders attended Heaton where Emma Fleming (70%+) was 2nd lady home. Lee Archaki recorded a new pb at Albert, as did Julia Ansbro at Monsal Trail and Craig Morgan and Samantha Gray at Harrogate. Izzy Morgan was 1st lady home at Sedgefield. Rachel Kate was 2nd lady home at Hackworth. Emily Palmer was 3rd lady home at Bramley. The mild, calm spell of weather continued this week. 15 Striders enjoyed the benign conditions at Wynyard - with Reece Mackey and Rachel Kate getting new pb's. Jonathon Archer and I were 1st and 2nd finishers - achieving 70%+ age-gradings. Elsewhere, Katie Barlow bagged an all-course pb at Albert. Despite only starting in 2023, her parkrun tally is already up to 71. Nice one Katie. Suzanne Brodie was on her travels again. Johannesburg was the venue, and she was 3rd lady home. There was plenty happening this week - parkruns, cross-country, Mother Shipton's Soft Shoe Shuffle and veteran Strider Dave Fender's Halloween misadventures. It seemed that Albert Park was the place to be on Saturday morning. No fewer than 33 Striders attended as Kate Clark did her 50th parkrun. Phil Baines (70%+ age-grading) bagged an all-course pb in a speedy sub-20 time. Nice one Phil. In-form Nicole Edwards got another all-course pb - and new member Lee Archacki also joined in the fun. It was the perfect morning for doing a parkrun on Saturday. 14 Striders attended Wynyard, with Matty Clarkson and Zoe Cornforth bagging new pb's. Kirsty Alderthay, Jim Wright, Emily Green and Paul Johnson volunteered. Elsewhere, John Wilson did his 50th parkrun at Albert. The venue also saw David and Caroline Horton achieve 70%+ and 80%+ age-gradings, respectively. Rachel Kate did her 50th parkrun at Farfalle near Venice. A bit more about Rachel's exploits later. Therefore, I wouldn't normally be able to spot an all-course pb - but with Nicole's recent form, it was apparent she had achieved just that.…

A blustery Sunday saw Striders out in force, both at home and abroad. However, we'll start with the relative tranquility of Saturday's parkruns. Amelia Whitehouse did her 50th parkrun, and Daniele Meucci got a new pb, at Wynyard. Beth Dang, Daniele, Helen Johnston and Kirsty Alderthay volunteered. Elsewhere, Sedgefield was the venue for another event in the club-league. 27 members attended - and witnessed an impressive double for Gail Robinson. Absolutely perfect running conditions this weekend. Wynyard saw Alistair Plenderleith complete his 50th parkrun - with Jim Wright and Kirsty Alderthay volunteering. Elsewhere, 15 Striders attended Albert where Katie Barlow, John Wilson and Lisa Graves bagged all-course parkrun pb's. Great running folks. Jamie Bentley achieved a 70%+ age-grading and I an 80%+.
