Edinburgh Marathon Report What a weekend! for Striders heading to Scotland. The first challenge was remembering we entered an event with more roll overs than the Euromillions. All Striders passed with flying colours. Lets start with the news we all waited for. CHLOE TURNER WINS EDINBURGH HALF. That's right in a tense "meeting" involving several hostages at event HQ Chloè-louise Turner successfully got organisers to delete the results of all non Striders. In particular all 40240 of the finishers in front of her were disqualified. The amended results are published below. Congratulations to Angela Stirling and Mary Marron on their respective Silver and Bronze medals. Keiran Walker was quoted as being "gutted". Hey striders as some of you know our very own wonderful, strong & resilient Debbie Edwards continues with her journey following her diagnosis of breast cancer. Things haven’t gone according to plan but that doesn’t Debbie. She’s hoping to get back running at the club very soon & also wants to do the great north run this year (treatment permitting) for the Trinity Holistic Centre. In 2019 there was a merry little band of us who all trained together with Debbie for York marathon and we all want to support her in doing the GNR together so have all got trinity holistic centre charity places to run with her. Of course this does mean a collective fundraising target of £1200 so we are thinking outside of the box for fundraising…

Thursday 2nd June – Bank Holiday session

Another date for your diaries folks … Thursday 2nd June is a bank holiday and therefore we wouldn’t usually have any sessions that evening. However to mark the jubilee we are holding a jubilee themed all inclusive medley session at Ropner Park - meeting at the band stand at 6:30pm … dress code is red, white & blue - or any variant of that 😊 … and if you have a crown or tiara lying around you may wish to don that too 😊👑👸🤴. Weather permitting we hope to have a bit of picnic with nibbles etc after the season 👍🏻👍🏻 More details will follow so watch the space 😊👍🏻🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

This Thursdays all inclusive session is going to be a spot of plogging!!! What’s plogging I hear some of you ask … read about it on the link 😊 This will be Striders 2nd plogging event as the inaugural one took place pre Covid days …. See photos!! As before we have bin bags, litter picker grabber things and some pairs of heavy duty gloves all donated by Stockton Borough Council but if anyone has their own heavy duty gloves can you bring them along … no bare hands are allowed 😊 The plan is to split into smaller groups with the remit to collect as much litter as you can in an allocated time. The groups will be mixed ability but will have a coach in each one. If…

Happy Saturday everyone … just a reminder it’s our next Canine parkrun meet up next Saturday at Flatts Lane parkrun. Who will be up for the challenge of Heartbreak Hill - will Alfred reign supreme, will Freddy relish the terrain with all his off road running, will Alan have the advantage being used to Hamsterley Forest as his playground, and what about the young pretenders Flo, Jet & Ivy will they find the going tough?!
