21 December parkrun report

Run reports
Parkrunners at the barrage were treated to the most extraordinary spectacle on Saturday. My dear friend Dave Fender turned up completely naked - except that is for his running shoes, a Santa hat and a Striders scarf around his neck. I know what you're thinking - do Striders actually sell a club scarf? On spotting the under-dressed Strider, Harley, normally so excitable and full of life, became very quiet. He's hardly touched his food since. Anyway, I digress - back to the run. A quick glance at the results may have hinted at a tussle between Dave and Tom Day at the front of the field. However, I'm reliably informed that it was a young lad called Hassan who was setting the early pace. Unfortunately Hassan took a wrong turning…

30 November parkrun report

Run reports
A late postponement at the barrage didn't bother Dave Fender. Matron had already deemed him unfit to run. I managed to arrive early enough to still have time to make a mad dash to Albert Park - which is never called off. So with Albert Park called off I made an even madder dash to Stewart Park and was joined by 8 other Striders. The course was pretty icy in places but that didn't stop Beth Dang and the in form Jonathon Archer getting new pb's. Elsewhere we had another 9 Striders at Sedgefield. No pb's there but Fiona Shaw did manage a new best time at Keswick. One more pb to report and that went to Kay Stokes at Flatts Lane. Kay also coming in 3rd for the ladies.…

9 November parkrun report

Run reports
A big attendance at the barrage on Saturday including 33 Striders. Pleased it was given the go ahead despite a few slippy patches. I think most people heeded the advice of the marshal on the first bridge to slow right down. Georgina King and Lee Buckle stayed on their feet to get new pb's. David and Viv Murphy were the Striders from the volunteers. Dave Fender failed his fitness test and didn't run. Elsewhere Beverley Harvey got a new pb at Darlington South. Simon Russell was first finisher at a parkrun somewhere in the North East. Runners too at Albert, Heaton, York, Redcar, Stewart, Hartlepool, Flatts Lane and Jesmond Dene. 2nd November parkrun report

Run reports
30 Striders at the barrage on a very special day for me old pal, and club legend, Dave Fender. Despite his dodgy knee Dave made it to 200 parkruns. Well done mate. Returning to his residence he discovered that matron had baked him a cake and arranged for a Glenn Miller tribute orchestra to play in the evening. It was one of the happiest days of Dave's life. Amy Brunton came back for parkrun number 2 and got a new pb. Jamie Bentley was third finisher. Following an extra teaspoon of creatine powder on my cornflakes I was able to put in a late burst and came in first. Kirsty A, Debbie E, Helen J, David M and Viv were among the volunteers. Elsewhere Tara Oxley pb'd at Albert Park,…
