Paul’s weekend race report

Run reports
A bright and breezy weekend saw the usual Saturday parkruns - and a sizeable club turnout at the Thirsk 10-miler on Sunday. Emily Palmer was first lady to finish at Albert recording a 70%+ age-grading in the process. Stevie Cooper also got over 70% - as did Simon Russell at Darlington South. There were new pb's for Mike Cleasby at Marshall Drive and David Murphy at Jubilee. Beth Dang continued her Toronto adventure with a new pb and 2nd female finish. Striders too at Hartlepool, Cannon Hill, Sedgefield, Stewart, Peter Pan (Hull), Hackworth, Southwark, Flatts Lane, Tonbridge, Druridge Bay, Northallerton, Herrington Country and Wollaton Hall (Nottingham). I've had a look at the Thirsk 10-miler results. Reckon some of the miles would have been quite challenging in a fairly stiff breeze. There…

Run reports
Plenty to report this week. We'll take another look at the successful 'club-league' parkrun at Albert and Sunday's cross-country at Whitby. However, first item on the agenda is Mike Cleasby's parkrun at Chopwell Wood, Gateshead. Mike has been quietly going about his parkrun business and on Saturday he reached 2 milestones. First of those was completing run number 250. More impressive was his second milestone: Mike has now done 100 different parkrun venues. Amazing! (to put that in context, Dave Fender has done 752 parkruns over the course of 6 decades - with all but 1 at the Tees Barrage) I think Suzanne Brodie, David Murphy and Fin Pennington have done over 50 venues - but they still have some way to go to catch Mike. Thanks for spreading the…

Run reports
35 Striders joined Debbie Edwards at Stewart Park on Saturday. The website photo shows our growing number of parkrun dogs! (Harley looked as calm as ever) All looks to have gone well and I wish Debbie all the best in her recovery. In-form Tom Murphy was 3rd home in a new pb. Steven Hall and Charlotte Farrar recorded pb's - whilst Emma Fleming was third lady to finish. Elsewhere, Stephen Mcneal pb'd and Izzy Morgan was third lady to finish at Albert park. Nigel Radcliffe reached run number 100 at Hartlepool. A venue which also saw Phil Baines get a new pb and Steve Cotton a 70%+ age-grading. Striders too at Carlisle, Valentines (Ilford), Sedgefield, Northallerton and Dolgellau (Wales). Paul J

Run reports
Paul’s weekend run report… A big crowd of Striders had one last 'parkrun' around the Tees Barrage on Saturday. This due to the event officially ending. Most of you will be aware of the circumstances regarding this decision. Won't comment further on this - if I gave my opinion then I'd get into trouble! At the end of this report I'll list a few stats regarding Striders at the barrage. In grey, cold and windy conditions Peter gave one final 3,2,1 and we were off. Half a mile in and the Princess Diana bridge was negotiated for the final time. It wasn't easy with a strong headwind. A few twists and turns later and we reached the first bridge over the canal. (and Adam Potter with a big hand). Not…

Run reports
Paul’s weekend race report…. Liz Simpson collapsed into a heap at the end of her 350th parkrun on Saturday. It was no surprise. Of all those 350 runs she'd just recorded her quickest time ever. Yes, 34 Striders attended a cool and breezy Hartlepool. We took over the joint - with 12 Striders in the first 16 finishers - and there were plenty more milestones and personal bests. Sam Johnston, in his 300th parkrun, also ran an all-course pb. It was catching. Izzy Morgan, Stephen Mitchinson, Emma Fleming and Tom Murphy (3rd finisher) recorded all-course pb's. Ben Robinson, doing run number 250, got a Hartlepool pb in his 2nd fastest parkrun time ever. John Stapleton got a Hartlepool pb. Ben, Liz, Helen Mcilvenny, Michelle Ince and Simon Russell recorded 70%+…

Run reports
A breezy day on Saturday saw another milestone for Abby Barker. Abby was first overall finisher at Basildon. Might be wrong but I think this is a first by a female Strider. Great work. 18 Striders were at Albert where Rob Parker, Steven Hall and Chloe Turner recorded new pb's - and Michael Meggs a 70%+ age-grading. Tony Galilee at Jubilee and Suzanne Brodie at Hamsterly Forest also got pb's. Striders too at Hartlepool, Durham, Stewart Park, Flatts Lane, Northallerton, Bideford (Devon), and Frickley. Nice to see a good turnout at Ropner Park on Sunday for the new 5k event. Might take a wander down myself in the coming weeks to see what it's all about. Matron said that if Dave behaves himself then he too would be allowed to…

Run reports
I had no idea the venue for Jill Abel's 400th parkrun had been changed. I turned up at Sedgefield. By the end of the run I was utterly distraught and ran to my car in tears. I drove back to see Dave Fender in Yarm and tell him what had happened. On arrival matron was grim faced. Dave was in a worse state than me. More on that after the report. Yes, it was Jill's 400th on Saturday. 33 Striders joined her for a run at Hartlepool. Conditions were nigh on perfect and there were some great performances. Tom Marrs and Michael Meggs were second and third home with 70%+ age-gradings. Tom also getting an all-course pb. Izzy Morgan and Beth Dang were first and third lady to finish. Beth…

Fairly quiet on the parkrun front this week - although we did see Izzy Morgan first lady home at Sedgefield, Simon Russell first finisher at The Grange and Michael Meggs third home at Albert. Last Sunday saw a cross-country event at Ormesby Hall. It was another stellar performance from our ladies team - Abbey, Emily, Faye, Gina, Katie, Liz and Sue. 2ndplace out of 15 teams was achieved - with Abbey and Emily finishing first and second respectively in the overall race. The gents had six runners - Jonathon, Simon, Michael B, Alan, Ben and James. Jonathon was…
