parkrun 02/07/16

Run reports
A big Strider turnout at Albert park this week saw 11 members completing the run. They were led home by Helen McIlvenny in a nail biting dip on the line with Andy Johnson. Two other very close Strider finishes (or maybe a bit of pacing?) saw Janice Long and Lisa McGee set new PBs. We had one Strider at both Stewart park and Riverside – which qualifies as the only tourist of the week and a welcome to Striders for Mike Cleasby. At Tees barrage, with its more traditional head wind in no matter what direction you are going, 13 Striders competed. Was there more pacing in evidence here or is Paul Johnson chasing down David Fender? Either way, a new PB for Paul was the result. Similarly Amelia Whitehouse…

Meanwhile, Amelia Whitehouse joined the 1 club. Elsewhere, two Striders attended Stewart park and there were another four at Albert park where Janice Long and Paul Stephenson made to best of the conditions to set new PBs. The tourism award goes to Jeanette and Paul Appleton for their trip to Boston (no, not that one, the one in Lincolnshire)

Tee shirt week

Run reports
There is a lot of commitment to the cause required to gain yourself a parkrun tee shirt, this week Emily Chaytor achieved her 50th run at Sedgefield and Jackie McCabe, at Albert park, became the 17th Strider to enter the 100 club. Well done to both. Five other striders completed Albert  park and Amy Lewis decided to tackle the hill at Sedgefield for the first time. We also had a representative at Hartlepool, Redcar and Stewart park. Tees barrage saw a record attendance on the day and both Rachel Carr (for the sixth successive week) and Adam Potter (sixth in seven runs) rose to the occasional with yet another PB each. 11 Striders appear in the Tees barrage results but I know that that there were a couple more –…

Caroline Horton was the first female finisher at Albert park this week and in the process scored 80%+ , getting very close the her PB. Eight other Striders followed Caroline home, with Neil McGee completing his first run here whilst Anna Carruthers set a new PB. Katie Abel travelled to Sedgefield to pick up a new PB and we also had representatives at Stewart park and Hartlepool. 11 Striders attended Tees Barrage with Rachel Carr setting her 5th successive PB along the riverside route. Over 90,000 people did a UK parkrun this week, slightly over 600 of those achieved their 50th red tee shirt run but how many of those also got a PB? I do not know but Ian Howse certainly did achieve 50 runs and a new PB! …

parkrun Striders

Run reports
Seven Striders, including a couple of hardy athletes fresh from London Marathon, toed the line at Albert park with Caroline Horton knocking out another 78%+ age graded score. We also had one representative at Stewart park. Craig Robinson travelled over to Riverside parkrun and was rewarded with a new PB. Others also travelled to Hartlepool and Fountains Abbey. 13 Striders got in some practice for Mondays 10k with a run at Tees Barrage. Rachel Carr (again!) and Alison Stobbs both clocked new PBs. The simple way to look for Striders in the results is to filter the club name rather than look for actual names – if I have missed you out please check that you appear in the results as a Strider. An easy way to do this is…
