Cross country XC…its coming!

Hi all The XC season is almost upon us and I need to know who is intending to take part in at least one of the events (listed below) so you can be allocated a season number ( saves time!) Please can you comment below as I need to return the info soon. To all our new members this year, why cross country a try they are great fun and shhh..dont tell everyone...there may be cake! The distances are usually around 5k for ladies and 8k for men and you must be affiliated and wear striders colours to take part. Very well done to everyone who took part in the NYSD XC race at Preston Park - our first time at hosting the event. Thank you to Sid Rudd, Graham Hall and the NYSD Team, Dave Todd and his First Aiders, Karen Harland for the photos and last but no least Stockton Striders AC and friends who were out early on a bitterly cold morning setting up the course & taking up their marshalling positions. Important coaching announcement: Hi all, just a few things to update you on with regards to the coaching at stockton striders. Due to increased numbers and a wider variation of abilities it has been decided that the 33+ group will now become the 33-37 group. For those of our members who are over 37 minutes for a 5km, we will have a progression group which will follow a 6 week training programme designed to help you aim towards the 37 minute mark. The progression group will be coached by the majority of the coaches at the club and at the end of the 6 week programme, members will run a 5km. Just to confirm and following Thursdays club announcement. Stockton Striders will be donating £500 towards the purchase of the Tees Barrage Parkrun defibrillator. NYSD Track and Field Season

Hello everyone, The first of 6 summer Track and Field meetings takes place on Tuesday 18th April at Eastbourne Sports Complex, Darlington DL1 1LJ. Start time 6pm. Yes, it does clash with a club night, but we're still hoping to get a few members willing to represent the club. We currently don't have a great deal of experience and expertise in track and field, but hope to improve this over the summer with these events. At some point we'll also be looking to arrange a session at the Middlesbrough Sports Village Athletics Stadium - just for club members in a more informal setting - so people can try out the various runs, jumps and throws.
